Master Timetables and Teacher Schedules: Print, PDF, Excel
The timetable is ready; now everyone needs it. A master sheet for the office, a personal schedule for every teacher, one for every classroom door. Here is how to produce them without doing each by hand.
The timetable is done. Now it has to go out: a master sheet on the office wall, a personal schedule in every teacher's pocket, a weekly timetable on every classroom door. Done by hand, this can take as long as building the timetable. And when something changes mid-term, it all gets printed again.
What is a master timetable?
A master timetable shows the whole school's timetable in one large table: every class or every teacher, every day and every period. In Atlas you open the timetable in Sheet mode and print it in three kinds: Class sheet, Teacher sheet and Classroom sheet.
Class, teacher and room schedules
You can open the timetable by class, teacher or classroom. A teacher's personal schedule is their weekly timetable in the teacher view: which day, which period, which class, which subject. A room schedule shows how full a lab or the gym is through the week.
Printing: A5, A4 or A3
Atlas prints a timetable on A5, A4 or A3 paper, portrait or landscape, and fits every timetable onto one page. So a pocket-sized teacher schedule and a large master sheet for the office both come from the same timetable.
Bulk export: no one-by-one work
There is no need to open and print forty teachers' timetables one at a time. Bulk export takes every class, every teacher or every classroom at once, in one of three ways:
- print them directly,
- get them all as one PDF file,
- get an Excel file, with each class, teacher or room on its own sheet.
The Excel export comes as a day-by-period grid, with block lessons as merged cells and subjects in their own colours.
Emailing teachers
Email teachers sends the published version to all teachers at once. Each teacher gets a link to their own timetable. On that page the teacher sees it and downloads it as PDF, without creating an account. The page is read-only and hidden from search engines. Teachers without an email address are skipped.
Email goes out only for the published version. If you changed the timetable, publish the new version first, then send. That way the timetable a teacher has is always the one the school uses.
Exporting as XML
A saved version can be exported with Export as XML in Atlas's own XML format. The same version always produces exactly the same file.
Outputs during the free trial
During the free trial you can build your timetable and duty roster and review them on screen. Printing, PDF, Excel and XML outputs, and emailing teachers, come with the annual licence. Details on the pricing page.
What to do when the timetable changes is in changing a timetable without clashes; duty roster outputs are in the duty roster.
