Automatic timetable generator

Atlas builds your school timetable.

Atlas is an automatic school timetable generator. You enter teachers, classes, subjects, rooms and your rules; Atlas builds a clash-free weekly timetable. If it can't, it tells you why.

A generator that knows your school's rules

It doesn't fill empty periods at random. It weighs teachers' closed periods, block lessons, room categories and your school's preferences together.

It checks first

When you press Generate Timetable it runs a pre-check first. If a teacher lacks open periods or a block lesson can't fit, it says so before trying.

It builds without clashes

No teacher in two classes at once, no room given twice in a period, no required rule broken. The same input always gives the same result.

When it can't, it says why

If the timetable can't be built, it shows which teacher, rule or lock is in the way, and offers a change only after trying it on the whole timetable.

Then the editing is yours

Drag lessons to move them; every change is checked before it is saved. Locks, versions, the master sheet, PDF and Excel are all there.

A timetable in three steps

1

Enter your school

Enter teachers, classes, subjects and rooms, or import them from an Excel or CSV file.

2

Write your rules

Closed periods, block lessons, day-off requests, heavy subjects in the morning: as required rules or preferences.

3

Run the generator

Press Generate Timetable. Atlas checks first, then builds the timetable.

The difference: it doesn't go quiet when it fails.

When a timetable can't be built, Atlas doesn't stop at “it didn't work”. It names what blocks it and offers a fix it has tried on the whole timetable.

Frequently asked

Is the timetable generator free?

You can try Atlas free for 7 days; no card needed. During the trial you build your timetable and review it on screen. Printing, PDF, Excel and XML outputs come with the annual licence.

Which rules does it take into account?

Teachers' and classes' closed periods, daily lesson caps, block lessons, same-day and different-day relations, synchronized lessons and room categories, plus preferences such as an even spread, a day off and heavy subjects in the morning.

Can I use my lists from Excel?

Yes. Teachers, subjects, classes, rooms and lesson requirements can be imported from an Excel or CSV file.

What if the timetable can't be built?

Atlas shows why and, where it can, offers a fix it has tried on the whole timetable. When the time allowed runs out it says so separately, and never presents that as the timetable being impossible.
